Now in its fourth year, the annual awards ceremony was hosted at the international trade show ITB in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Berlin<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Madden was one of five women honored as part of the \u201cCelebrating Her\u201d awards which were established by the not-for-profit International\u2013\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">India<\/span>(IIPTI) to acknowledge exceptional women in the fields of travel, tourism and hospitality. The additional award recipients were Her Excellency Rania al Mashat, Minister of Tourism for\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Egypt<\/span>; Her Excellency Elena Kountoura, Minister of Tourism for\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Greece<\/span>;\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Helen Marano<\/span>, Founder and President of Marano Perspectives; and\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Mechtild Maurer<\/span>, General Director, ECPAT Germany.<\/p>\n<p>According to IIPT, the awards are \u201cgiven to individuals with a clarity of vision and mission who understand and believe that tourism could become the first global peace industry and who have committed themselves to fostering the tourism business as a vehicle for peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In accepting the honor, Madden noted that the awards ceremony was held on the eve of International Women\u2019s Day and underscored \u201cthat gender equality is intrinsic to economic development and the organization\u2019s global aims in fostering peace and bridging the gender gap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cIn today\u2019s business and political climate, sustainability is no longer a \u2018nice to do\u2019 for corporations; it is a business imperative. I look forward to supporting IIPT\u2019s commitment to sustainable \u00a0\u00a0tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Key speakers at the awards included Dr.\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Taleb Rifai<\/span>, former Secretary General of UNWTO; Her Excellency Eliza Reid, First Lady of\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Iceland<\/span>; and The Honorable Marie-Christine Stephenson,\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Haiti\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries.<\/p>\n<p>Madden joined FINN in 2018 as the head of its Sustainability and Social Impact practice and has advocated for women and girls throughout her career. She is a sought-after speaker on sustainability issues, particularly ESG disclosure, human rights and conflict minerals. She has toured\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Mongolia<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Moldova<\/span>\u00a0as a guest speaker on sustainability for the U.S. State Department and has spoken at the Milken Global Conference, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the Jonas Salk Centenary Symposium on Sustainability.
